3rd Annual LEAD Conference - 2025
Friday August 8, 2025 8:00am - 8:50am PDT
Not all high-achieving students are gifted—and not all gifted students are high achievers. This 40-minute session will guide educators through the key characteristics that distinguish truly gifted learners from their bright peers. Participants will explore common myths, review research-based identification practices, and examine real-world student profiles to sharpen their ability to recognize gifted potential across diverse populations. Emphasis will be placed on equitable identification strategies, including how to look beyond grades and behavior to uncover advanced cognitive abilities. Attendees will leave with practical tools and resources to support more accurate, inclusive gifted identification in their schools.
